A tour of the house is a must – this baroque masterpiece was designed by architect Sir John Vanbrugh with the help of Nicholas Hawksmoor. It really is something special. The rooms each tell a story and there will be people on hand in each room to bring it too life.
There is a beautiful “arts & crafts” style Chapel with works by William Morris on show – this is a real treat.
Finally, there are café’s, tea rooms, gifts shops and a well-stocked farm shop and a garden centre to help you make more of your stay.
After lunch, we would drive through the beautiful Howardian Hills past Hovingham to the North Yorkshire market town of Helmsley.
