The Chiltern Hills (Chilterns) are defined by the British government as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), and it does not disappoint; its close proximity to London making it a thoroughly enjoyable ‘day in the country’. The River Thames borders the Chilterns on one side, the small towns and villages along the valley making ideal destinations for visits. Examples are Henley, famous for its annual regatta, Marlow for its antique shops and restaurants; and Goring on Thames with its picturesque lock and quaint English pubs.
